A few thoughts…

I read some articles online today, heard quite a few stories as well; some were funny, others happy, and a few were sad and somewhat depressing. So here is my question, what if we all lived today as though this was the last day we had on earth? Would we make time for family and friends, spend on loved ones, take time to laugh at even the driest of jokes, sing out loud, dance in public, and even smile at strangers? What would I do differently if today was my last day? (I have many things running through my head).

One of my friends just found out that a friend of his committed suicide, that’s depressing but it is the reality of the world we live in. Have you seen this list on Wikipedia?

How can we prevent these many people from taking their own lives? What can we do to ensure that the suicide rate around the world nosedives? A smile, a listening ear, a hug (sometimes a long hug for an hour while the person cries), taking the time to really know someone. Some of the main causes of suicide are loneliness and shame….we live in an era where we spend more time with our gadgets and equipments than we do with people face to face, we must be alert.

I’m speaking to you as much as I’m speaking to myself but this issue really strikes a chord in me and hurts because I know I have been guilty of spending more time reading on my Kindle than listening to a friend. Let us be aware that there are hurting people around us, we are called to be God’s hands and feet- not immobile ones, active ones!
